At the age of 12, Mike along with his brothers started working for his father’s tree service company in the summer as a ground helper. By the time Mike was 16 and in high school, he was climbing trees on weekends, after school and during summer breaks to participate in the operation of the family business.
He continued to work for his father’s company while attending college at California State University, Northridge and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After college, Mike decided to pursue a career into the corporate world and worked in the media department of an advertising agency and then as the marketing manager for a small product development company.
In 1998, after realizing that his real passion was working outside and with trees, Mike went back to work for his father’s tree service company and was running the company by 2000. In 2006, Mike was offered the opportunity to join the team at Kerry’s Tree Service as an area supervisor and continues to enjoy the daily benefits of working with trees. He is CTSP accredited from TCIA and an ISA Certified Arborist.
In 1972, Kerry Ray started his journey in tree trimming by pruning the trees at his rental house in Reseda, California.
